The Administration and Finance Department is responsible for the Council's management, administration, and supportive services such as personnel management/policies, budgeting, indirect cost plan, procurement, accounting, auditing, financial reporting/policies, accounting and procurement policies and procedures, reproduction, operating mail room, maintenance of building facilities, public information and liaison with board membership. The employees responsible for the Council's administrative and financial management functions are the Executive Director and the Director of Finance. Retired July 31,2023 - John P. Buckner John Buckner worked for the Coastal Bend Council of Governments since January 1971. He began his employment in an Environmental Engineer/Planner capacity and was promoted to Executive Director in February 1977. He retired from this position on July 31, 2023. John Buckner did his pre-engineering studies at St. Edwards University in Austin and received a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in 1967 from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters Degree in Environmental Health Engineering from the University of Texas in 1969. He got his Texas Professional Engineering License in September 1972, #34217. John Buckner has been a member and officer of two local and state professional engineering societies throughout the years. He is a life member in the American Society of Civil Engineers and The National Society of Professional Engineers. Veronica graduated from Corpus Christi State University with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Veronica is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA, TSCPA, Corpus Christi Chapter of CPAs, Government Finance Officers Association, Texas Association of Regional Council's Finance and Personnel Association, and a member of the National Association of Regional Council’s Finance Officers Working Group.
