A Pandemic Approach, COVID-19 Challenges, Opportunities & Resources for Hurricane Season
The Coastal Bend Hurricane Conference provides access to high-quality training and networking typically available only at larger, more expensive, state and national events. This year, due to COVID-19 and risks associated with holding public events, the Coastal Bend Emergency Management Association and Nueces County canceled the in-person event and partnered with the Port of Corpus Christi and title sponsor, HEB, to offer a virtual learning experience for participants. This event was offered at no cost to participants in order to ensure all stakeholders and those along the mid to lower Texas Coast are prepared to meet the challenges of the 2020 hurricane season.
This years’ Coastal Bend Hurricane Conference, a Pandemic Approach, welcomed more than 500 virtual participants, representing the full range of local, state, and federal governmental responders and policymakers, voluntary organizations, healthcare professionals, private businesses and industry representatives. Participants included professionals ranging from newcomers to emergency preparedness to seasoned expert emergency managers.
Please share the conference materials freely with individuals who may benefit. We hope to see you next year when we return to the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown on May 5 & 6, 2021.
