Course Description: This course provides information for the patrol officer, police officer, or deputy who does not regularly handle civil law matters. This course will cover numerous topics related to civil law that the first-responding officer may need to know, including Civil Standby, Evictions, and Court Orders.

Course Description: We are proud to offer 6 hours of TCOLE and CLE credit for peace officers and prosecutors to attend this free, high-quality training. Every defense lawyer who advises clients to refuse a breath test admits that officers are arresting people who are intoxicated for DWI, yet DWI cases are very hard to win in front of juries. One reason is that prosecutors and officers are not conveying to jurors what the officer actually saw at the scene and what he knows from his training and experience. This course is dedicated to ethically and professionally presenting officer testimony in DWI cases. Well-crafted reports, effective direct examinations, clear demonstrations, and honest responses to less-than-honest defense tactics on cross will all be discussed, modeled, and practiced.

Course Description:

INTERDICTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN is designed to make front-line officers and investigators aware of the variety of resources available to assist them in establishing the status of a child who may be missing, exploited, or at risk of exploitation, and what courses of action are immediately available. Upon completion, attendees will know resources available to them and courses of action to take when encountering an endangered child; Be able to identify research-supported indicators of an endangered child and a high-risk threat to children; Have a basic understanding of behavioral patterns of both suspects and victims; and know how to articulate their findings that are supported through research.
Students are responsible for their own meals.

Course Description: Participants will be introduced to a basic understanding of planning operational coordination of public information and warning through lecture and group discussions. The participant will have the opportunity to work through a customized tabletop exercise focused on the strategic objectives faced by senior leaders. The final activity of the class is the development of an action plan to improve the preparedness posture of the community/organization.

Course Description: Participants will identify pre-disaster planning and recovery actions. They will identify the goals of Federal Disaster Assistance and Recovery Programs, the initial stages, application collaboration, project formulation, and management of the Public Assistance Process. Project funding, monitoring, and closeout will also be explained.
