Description: The goal of this course is to equip call-takers with effective techniques for communicating with callers experiencing a suicidal or emotional crisis. Participants will gain an understanding of warning signs, suicidal behaviors, the PLAID PALS assessment tool, and strategies for building rapport through active listening and verbal containment. The course will also address unique response considerations, including chemical suicide and suicide by cop, to improve caller outcomes and responder safety.
