Description: The goal of this course is to equip telecommunicators with the skills needed to recognize and effectively respond to Veterans in crisis. Participants will learn to identify indicators of PTSD, traumatic brain injury, suicidal ideation, risk factors, and Veteran-specific behaviors while applying active listening, verbal de-escalation, and intervention techniques. The course also explores call triage strategies, including diversion to mental health crisis resources and safety planning, to enhance outcomes for Veterans, responders, and the community.
